Winter Events In The Local Area

The frosty winter days are upon us and Christmas is just around the corner. It's the perfect season to enjoy Silverdale and the stunning local area in all its festive glory; from winter walks to delightful dinners, there's something for everyone. 

Here are five winter events that families, couple or individuals can experience this winter:

1. Winter Wonderland Family Trail 

The RSPB is the largest nature conservation charity in England and Leighton Moss boasts beautiful scenery, majestic wildlife and events for every season. Winter is no exception, with an array of events on offer, though you might need to wrap up warm!  Their Winter Wonderland Family Trail runs throughout December and encourages teams and families to explore nature. Leighton Moss is only a three minute drive from Silverdale, making it the perfect day out.

2. Open Golf Competitions 

Silverdale is home to a beautiful golf course with breathtaking views and a welcoming atmosphere. The winter open series runs on 16 December and is perfect for members and non-members alike to enjoy sporting fun and healthy competition. There's a chance to win some fantastic prizes, as well as enjoying this magnificent course and great value for money.

3. Dickensian Christmas Festival 

Less than an hour away, you can experience Ulverston's famous annual festival. As one of the most popular Dickensian festivals in England, this unique event attracts many visitors over the festive season.  As well as giving you the chance to explore the town's quirky shops, cobbled streets and vibrant atmosphere, the festival sees free entertainment take to the streets. There's music, dancing and even horse drawn carriages at this truly spectacular event. You'll also find a traditional fairground with rides and live bands. 

4. Santa’s Festival Market Grotto 

Standing on Morecambe Bay, the town of Morecambe is a wonderful place to visit at any time of year. Popular for a day by the sea over the summer, Morecambe stays alive throughout the winter months and is only half an hour away from Silverdale. Open every weekend in the run up to Christmas, you can experience a truly magical festive day out.  With stalls, fancy dress, competitions and lots more attractions, this is a really great event for all the family. Santa’s grotto is the icing on the cake and children will delight in meeting their bearded hero and his elves. Alongside all the Christmas-themed activities available for you to take part in, this promenade-based market is perfect for a spot of Christmas shopping, and you'll be surrounded by a selection of unique gifts.

5. Delicious Food And Drink
