Wanderlust: 3 Great Walks from the Pub
The Lake District has some of the country’s best walking routes, but it is not the only place where you can find amazing walks for the whole family. There are many easily accessible paths from The Royal that are sure to fuel your sense of wanderlust and make you want to come back again and again! Take a look at some of our top Silverdale hiking choices:
Silverdale, Hawes Water & Jenny Brown’s Point
This is a good beginner’s level walk with plenty of variety (limestone, salt marshes, bird life, and much more), as a section of it even takes you near the shoreline – this also means that, while a beautiful sight to admire, you should plan this walk to avoid going during high tide! Despite the fact that the walk is 11.4km in length, it is an easy path with an easy elevation, so it’s perfect for the whole family and your dog as well.
Silverdale & Arnside
This 13km walk can be easy or moderate, depending on experience! With an ascent of 394m, it can be tough at times, but the end result will be more than worth it, with fantastic views across the Lake District. This beautiful walk will take you through mature woodland and will let you glimpse some of the most stunning wildlife that makes the area their homes, such as red squirrels and seals. The latter can be seen in tidal streams near the shore.
The Arnside & Silverdale AONB provides you with beautiful sights that you can enjoy as you travel in the area. You can climb the 192m Arnside Knott, which will be on your path, and take advantage of the breath-taking nature surrounding you. This lovely walk will let you explore the rocky coastline if you so wish, or you can just keep going until you reach the Knott itself. The views from the top are rewarding and will create great mementoes you can look back fondly on.
Walking in Silverdale will provide you with beautiful landscapes, rich in limestone hills, amazing woodland and striking coastline. The Royal is close to so many amazing walks that the difficult part will be to choose just one to walk! From easier routes to some that are better walked by more experienced hikers, the Silverdale area truly has it all. And the best thing is that you can stop for a pint at the pub and rest after your adventure!
